Senate District 7

Who David Kiner is

  • In the state senate, David will work to rein in the cost of utilities by stopping greedy utility companies like Eversource from gouging middle class and working families and putting profits ahead of the people they serve. He will fight for greater transparency in how utility rates are set, push for reforms that put consumers first, oppose efforts that shift unnecessary costs onto ratepayers, and fight against Eversource’s influence over policymakers and politicians.

  • As state representative, David fought to make sure local schools got their fair share of funding and delivered more money for schools every year. In the state senate, David will work to redo the education funding formula and push to fully fund schools so they have the resources they need to help students thrive and improve support for students with disabilities and special needs.

Who John Kissel is

  • Serves as a high-paid attorney for Eversource who has made millions of dollars defending them and lobbying his colleagues in Hartford behind the scenes on their behalf. In Hartford, John has done nothing to hold Eversource and monopoly utilities accountable for rate increases, even as they make record profits while jacking up our energy bills, because he profits when they profit. He even skipped votes to cut electric bills by hundreds of dollars per household per year, require utility companies to justify their costs and rate hikes, and strengthen accountability and transparency requirements.
