Who Jill Oberlander is

Jill Oberlander is an attorney and a twenty-year resident who has spent her career in public service. She served on the Board of Selectmen, guiding the town through COVID, and six years on the Representative Town Meeting. On the Board of Estimate and Taxation, the town finance board, she was unanimously elected chair, the first Democrat to hold that seat in town history. She is running for state senate to bring experienced, independent leadership to Hartford, focused on affordability, supporting business and growing the economy.

• As chair of the town finance board, the first Democrat ever to hold the seat, she kept property tax increases low, lower than the prior decade under Republican leadership, while responsibly funding schools and town services. She will bring that same fiscally responsible leadership to Hartford, protecting taxpayers and lowering the cost of living

• Her priority will not be party leaders in Hartford. In her own words, "some days, I'll vote with my party. Other days, I won't. That's how it should be." She will stand up against one size fits all mandates from Hartford and defend local control over zoning, because local planning officials understand our roads, sewers and neighborhoods better than Hartford does
